Last Sunday Pastor Travis taught from the third chapter of 1 John and identified five key words for living fully in the love of God: FORGIVEN, DISCERNING, INTENTIONAL, CONFIDENT, and OBEDIENT. He reminded us that these five words are neither begun nor achieved by our own doing; instead, they are the result of the Father's incredible love for us and are enabled by the Holy Spirit. Travis challenged us to focus on one keyword this week as we seek to experience and share the love of Christ - as we step out in faith, God promises to meet us there.
Last Sunday, Pastor Travis continued our teaching series from 1 John and asked the question, "What dreams have we had that at some point we gave up on?" He then taught from our 1 John passage about dealing with challenges, obstacles and battles that confront the God-dreams we have in our hearts and offered three helpful next steps from the Scriptures to recapturing and reigniting our dreams and living fully in love with Jesus.
In this message, Pastor Travis continues our teaching series through 1 John and examines what it means to know God as the source of light and love in our lives. He walks through three responses we often have when our lives are examined fully in the light of God and then points us to the love of Jesus that forgives our sin, strengthens our weakness, and leads us into life-change.
Over the next several weeks we'll be going through John's first letter to the early church. In his letter, John highlights several areas of life - spiritual, personal, and social - where we at times experience fear, doubt, and regret. Throughout his letter, John points us to Jesus and his incredible, life-changing love and reminds us that the perfect love that we find in Christ is stronger than our fears. In this message, Pastor Travis introduces us to the author, John, the beloved disciple of Jesus.
